#17 Shared Calendars in Microsoft Outlook

This session we're looking at the calendar feature on Microsoft Outlook. Many of us mark our own appointments on the Outlook calendar, but did you know that you can schedule meetings with other staff members? Calendars can also be shared between groups or individuals. NVDPL uses shared calendars to book rooms or equipment.

Read through the resources to pick up a few calendar pointers. Who knows; maybe you'll find yourself using the calendars more in the future!

This week's will tell you how to schedule meetings, how to accept or decline proposed meeting times, and how to view shared calendars.

Discovery Resources:

Discovery Exercise:
  1. Take a look at the discovery resources to learn how to schedule meetings, accept or decline proposed appointment times, and view shared calendars.
  2. Create a meeting and invite one of your co-workers. (Note that if your co-worker has not used his or her own Outlook calendar to schedule any appointments, their time will appear to be completely available).
  3. Open the booking calendar for the Lynn Valley board room. This calendar is called "Library LV Board Room." Take a look at when some of our committees will be busy around the table.
  4. Do you think you might use calendars more in the future? Write your reflections on your blog.
